More about Guatemala Mental Health & Counseling Ministry: Hope, Healing & Emotional Support:

Come alongside a ministry in Guatemala that is helping bring hope, healing, and emotional restoration to individuals and families through professional mental health care rooted in the love of Christ.

In many communities throughout Guatemala, mental health services are difficult to access, financially out of reach, or surrounded by stigma. Through CFCI’s Psychology Clinic in Chimaltenango, individuals experiencing emotional struggles, trauma, grief, anxiety, family challenges, and crisis situations are able to receive compassionate, professional care in a safe and supportive environment.

At CFCI, we believe the Gospel is holistic.

That means we care about the whole person — spiritual, emotional, relational, and practical needs. Through counseling and mental health ministry, we help create spaces where people can experience dignity, healing, hope, and the love of Jesus in tangible ways.

The Psychology Clinic operates from two private counseling offices located at the CFCI mission base in Chimaltenango. These spaces were intentionally created to provide peace, respect, privacy, and confidentiality for every individual receiving care.

This ministry is led by dedicated local professionals who are deeply invested in the emotional and spiritual well-being of their community. Through socioeconomic evaluations, the clinic is also able to provide free counseling services to individuals and families facing extreme financial hardship, ensuring that healing is never limited by income.

Because of the deeply personal and confidential nature of counseling, short-term mission teams do not typically participate directly in therapy sessions or patient care. Protecting the emotional safety and privacy of patients is a top priority.

However, teams still play an incredibly important role in supporting this ministry.

Visiting teams may help through:

  • Encouragement & prayer for staff
  • Supporting the clinic environment & facilities
  • Providing resources or supplies
  • Helping furnish counseling spaces
  • Supporting outreach & awareness efforts
  • Investing in the long-term sustainability of the ministry
  • Offering professional training or mentorship for local staff
  • Financial sponsorship for counseling sessions
  • Serving the broader ministry base through outreach & community ministry

Mental health professionals may also have opportunities to support the ministry through specialized training, collaboration, encouragement, or professional development opportunities for local staff.

Every act of support helps strengthen a ministry that is bringing healing and hope to people who may have nowhere else to turn.

You’ll serve alongside Guatemalan ministry leaders and professionals who are already deeply invested in their communities. Together, you’ll help create environments where people can experience compassion, dignity, restoration, and the hope and love of Jesus.
