Christ For the City is currently working to develop a viable ministry base in the following targeted cities. We need leaders who sense God's call on their lives and know they should be doing more to help the Kingdom come to their community. Des Moines, Iowa:
The capitol of Iowa is like so many other cities, they have a great history, great people, and plenty of community activities. There are churches on nearly every corner - yet there are problems. Drugs, violence, poverty, homelessness are slowly making their way throughout the city. 80% of students in one elementary school have a relative who is incarcerated in the prison system. We believe God is calling us to go to Des Moines and partner with the church there to help them make a difference in their community.
With the help of a local youth leader, Bill Clark has been able to help launch the Des Moines Urban Plunge. They serve the homeless and troubled youth on the streets. Sioux Falls, South Dakota:
In the fall of 2009, a group of seminary students were searching for ways to make a difference in Sioux Falls. Several took the Urban Plunge in Omaha and asked, "why not in Sioux Falls?" We saw no reason either so we are up and going and looking for leadership who feel called to help launch a Base. We are excited about this new door God has opened. Please keep us in prayer for this city.
